Christopher Staknys, 15, an aspiring young performer and composer attends Falmouth High School as a junior and New England Conservatory Prep on Saturdays. He studies piano with Roberto Poli and composition with Howard Frazin. He has attended Walnut Hill School For The Arts as a boarding student for two years as well as Tanglewood, Killington, Summit, Greenwood, The Next Generation Bay Chamber, and various Portland Conservatory Summer Music Camps, Festivals, Classes and Workshops.

Christopher has performed at The Franco-American Heritage Center in Lewiston, the July 4th Pops concert in Blue Hill, and at The Noon Day Concert series in Portland. He accompanies and sings in his school choir and has written several choral works which have been performed in high and middle school. He has participated at the Messiaen, Haydn, and Liszt Festivals with New England Conservatory students, played in Honors Recitals (NEC Prep) including duo and chamber groups at Jordan Hall, at Master Classes with Ya-Fei Chuang, The Boston Trio, Katsenelenbogen and Ivanovitch, The Ethel String Quartet, and William Bolcum.

Christopher is presently a member of a young performer/composer quartet (“CPR”- Composers Performers Repertory Ensemble) in Boston. This summer CPR will be playing their own pieces as well as standard repertoire throughout New England, including at The Shiu Lin Center in Rockport, Massachusetts.

He has won numerous competitions including ARR Piano Inge Holleck Prize, NEC Prep Concerto, Ocy Downs Piano, MMEA Composers, Bagaduce Young Composers, Bangor Symphony Concerto, Metrowest Concerto, Steinway Piano, Pinetree Piano, Music Without Limits Concerto and Solo international Competition in Lithuania. Christopher is a multiple recipient of the Friends Of The Kotzschmar Organ Scholarship.

His composition “Congo” was premiered by the Portland Symphony Orchestra. He performed his piano piece “Summer Evening in Maine” at the 4th of July Pops Festival at Blue Hill last summer.

Christopher’s music, as performer and composer, can occasionally be heard on WRUV in Burlington, Vermont.
